Dark Circle Under Eye Color Corrector for Tan/Deep Skin

Hey! If you suffer from dark circles like me I have some great items for you. These will color correct the purple/blue discoloration under your eyes, any scars and darkness around your mouth. After you color correct you can always add a brightener under the eyes for a dramatic finish. These holy grail items have never let me down.

My favorite is the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in Biscuit. This has a salmon/pink undertone that works well to color correct dark circles. Bonus- if you are a deep tan skin tone this will also blend well into the other parts of the face to hide scars and discoloration. The finish is natural and does not need to be set with a powder.

The L.A. Girl PRO Concealer is more dramatic option and best for ladies with a deep dark skin tone. The red/orange shade can counteract the darkest circles. You will need to use another concealer on top though. I would recommend an actual skin tone concealer and not just a brightener. You will need to hide the red/orange.

Last but not least I use this Bobbi Brown concealer that has a pink undertone alone. The shade matches my skin tone while the undertone counteracts dark circles. I can use this alone when I feel like using minimal product but with strong coverage. It is a bit creamy and thick so you will need to warm the product up before application. Just rub a bit in between your fingers and pat on. You will need to set this with a powder as it does crease.

For reference I am an NC 42 in Mac, Syracuse in Nars Foundations, and Golden Beige in Cover Girl.

New in! Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Neutral Shades

I received a special package today! Woot! I’m finally able to give these Makeup Geek shadows a whirl. I ordered 6 shades. Silly me did not realize I could fit 9 shades in a Z Palette.

I picked up the Z Palette from Ebay for $9. It was labeled as factory defect which is totally fine by me because there is only a dent when I lift the top to reveal the shadows. The shadows I chose are all natural shades. I desperately needed some matte shades to compliment all the Urban Decay Naked palettes I own. Each shadow was an affordable $5.99. Shipping came through First Class USPS Mail, so it took a solid week to arrive.

Colors in order:

Beaches & Cream

Peach Smoothie

Creme Brulee

Cocoa Bear

I hope these shadows are as amazing as I’ve heard. What other colors should I add to my collection?

Product Review: Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation, Classic Tan 360

I’m going to get right to it. This is hands down one of the worst foundations I have ever used.  Here is why…

I used four layers of this and couldn’t get full coverage. I felt like there was a blanket of silicone laying on my skin. It felt heavy and unnecessary. I applied this with my fingers then a Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush. Both techniques worked to apply the foundation but the brush looked like it was dipped in wax and was impossible to clean afterwards.

One of the top ingredients in this formula is dimethicone. This is a silicone that is used in most face primers and provides that velvety soft feeling when rubbing product onto the skin. Dimethicone is extremely bad for acne prone skin as it creates a barrier on top of the skin and traps everything under neath it. As an everyday makeup product, that’s just bad. This all makes so much sense. This foundation glides so well and decreases the look of pores and fine lines. It’s basically got a built in primer from the dimethicone.

Cons: The formula sticks to skin, clinging to every dry patch. It’s hard to wash off. It is not full coverage. This takes a while to set and if you use too much it starts to crumble.

Pros: It can blend well if you apply little by little. If your skin is perfect and all you need is a little coverage this can work for you. It does look smooth and airbrushed on the skin. You don’t need to set it with powder. It holds up well and can wear all throughout the day.

In my opinion this foundation won’t work for everyone but I do see someone with pretty decent skin with a little need for coverage getting some good use out of it. It just happened to look awful on me because my skin is very yellow and this collection carries more cool tone shades. Also I need full coverage, I have redness and hyper pigmentation. This is a sheer to medium coverage foundation.

Product Review: L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation with SPF 18

L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powered Foundation with SPF 18

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powered Foundation with SPF 18

This foundation claims to turn from a liquid from to powder after application. Well, I tried it and I can say that it does. I found this foundation at a CVS near my home. Not all locations have this yet though. I visited 3 locations and only one had the foundation. I picked up 328 in Sun Beige. The color is a little light for me but the next color up was too dark. This is the number one reason I don’t love drugstore foundations, the color range is typically off for me.

At first I hated this product. It felt slimy, it was dripping off my palms, and it stuck to my dry spots. The next day I gave it a second chance and it was much better. I used far less product the second time around and I exfoliated before application. I was able to achieve medium coverage and my face looked matte. It didn’t cover my acne scars but in all honestly not very much does. I’m realistic.

This foundation starts off as a very liquid formula so use very little when applying or it can get all over the place. I would suggest putting your finger at the opening of the bottle and shake. Apply to your face whatever you get on your finger. The finish is a matte so you do not need a powder to set it in. It can give you a sheer to medium coverage. The formula is almost waterproof even through it is not marketed that way so oily skins will love it. This feels like you are applying primer or serum to the skin so it really blends well.

It does last longer than the average foundation but reapplying a little during the day couldn’t hurt you. Plus you don’t even need to carry a powder. If you have major hyperpigmentation, acne scars and dry spots this is not the best option for you. The coverage won’t really get up that high without looking a little cake like. Yes it can get cake like so don’t use too much.

Here are some pictures of how it looks when you pour it onto your palm and after running water over it.

Here is a before and after on me. I used two layers. As you can see it diffuses the look of my pores and evens my skin tone. It did an ok job hiding scars and redness. Not enough for me though.

Overall I would recommend this product but it’s just not a repurchase for me. It doesn’t stack up to my holy grail Nars Sheer Glow. Here is a link to that review: http://wp.me/p39Icy-C
