My favorite contour palette, by Sephora

contour-tan_skin-sephora_palette-

Although the design of this product is annoying and the highlight shades are useless this is by far the best contour product I have ever used.

The deep tan shade on the left is smooth and warm in color. It works as a bronzer on me.

For contour I use the cooler tone on the right hand side. This is what I use down the sides of my nose and as a sharp contrast under my cheek bones. If I feel the color is too grey I warm up my face with the bronzer.

The really dark color at the bottom is what I use for under my jawline. I don’t use this anywhere else it’s just way to dark. A little goes a long way with this shade. Tread lightly if you are med to tan. BTW for reference I am a deep tan, MAC NC 42.

Now back to those highlight shades. They are useless. They are super chalky, not smooth, and not pigmented. They get in the way of the contour shades but I work around them.

Sephora has marked this on sale, it looks as though it is now a discontinued product. I’ve stalked up on this palette. Sad to see it go but I hope it gets redesigned for us darker skin girls.

Modani Phantom Black Sofa + Living Room Decor

Modani Modern Furniture has inspired me to design a living room reflecting my own personal style. I chose the Phantom Black Sofa. The look I was going for is mostly feminine with a mix of hard metals, wood accents and pops of color.

If you want to get some inspiration at how Modani displays their pieces take a look at some of their modern furniture stores.

The Cape Blazer Trend

The Cape Blazer
I’m a bit unsure about the cape blazer trend. I see it as a chic update to the blazer, but is it a trend that will last long? I’m not quite sure if it is worth investing in. The only way I would get the maximum use out of one of these is if I purchased it in black. What’s your take on the cape blazer?

New in! Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Neutral Shades

I received a special package today! Woot! I’m finally able to give these Makeup Geek shadows a whirl. I ordered 6 shades. Silly me did not realize I could fit 9 shades in a Z Palette.

I picked up the Z Palette from Ebay for $9. It was labeled as factory defect which is totally fine by me because there is only a dent when I lift the top to reveal the shadows. The shadows I chose are all natural shades. I desperately needed some matte shades to compliment all the Urban Decay Naked palettes I own. Each shadow was an affordable $5.99. Shipping came through First Class USPS Mail, so it took a solid week to arrive.

Colors in order:

Beaches & Cream

Peach Smoothie

Chickadee

Creme Brulee

Latte

Cocoa Bear

I hope these shadows are as amazing as I’ve heard. What other colors should I add to my collection?

New in! Kate Spade Handbag & Jewelry

  kate-spade-outlet-haul

I’ve done quite a bit of shopping with Kate Spade the in the last month. Surprisingly, I was never interested in the brand until recently. The delightfully overwhelming color palette has drawn me in.

The red tote, pink wallet, and orange badge/credit card holder are from the Kate Spade outlet in Livermore, Ca. and the jewelry is from

a Kate Spade stand alone boutique on Burlingame Ave in Burlingame, Ca.

The outlets were running a super sale at 75% off all handbags. The red tote came to $125!

The pink wallet was $79 at 50% off and the orange card holder came to $39 at 50% off.

Here are the gorgeous full price jewelry items I picked up. Oh well, I can treat myself. The Toucan necklace was $48 and the earrings came to $58.

What is your favorite thing about Kate Spade?

Are the Kate Spade outlet handbags worth buying? YES!

I’ve had my eye on a saffiano tote but wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend my life savings on a Prada bag or keep it affordable with a Kate Spade. I did some research online and decided I would wait for a big outlet sale then go ham at Kate Spade. To my dismay some forum posted a statement calling the Kate Spade outlet items poor quality and that the outlet items were specifically manufactured for the outlets.

I called the Livermore, Ca.  Kate Spade outlet to investigate and asked the following questions and have included the associates answers.

Q:Do you sell Kate Spade boutique overstocks and past seasons styles?

A: Yes.

Q: Does the outlet manufacture different product specifically for the outlet shopper?

A: Yes.

Q: Where does the product come from?

A: Same factory, same material, & same craftsmanship. Different styles.

Q: How can I tell the difference between outlet bags and actual boutique items?

A: There is a separate section for boutique items but there is no real difference. Just different styles. All items come from the exact same factory using the same materials. However, the product codes on the outlet items start with a W and the retail items start with a P and the outlet styles have a gold metal plate as the signature and the boutique styles are stamped with Kate Spade New York. Personally, I like the outlets’ gold plate over the stamp.

So in conclusion, I’m fine with that. I will be spending my 4th of July outlet shopping. I hope to come across a new saffiano Kate Spade tote to take home. What are you thoughts about outlet shopping? Please share your experience with me!
