As the weather warms up I get a little more lazy about my makeup and skincare routine. I’m looking to have less product on my face to look fresher and head out the door faster. Not to mention mid-day meltdowns get the best of me. No, I’m not talking about the stress of work, hormones or hunger. I’m talking about my makeup. It starts to melt, my face gets shiny and my makeup wears away. Here’s what I use to keep things fresh.
Urban Decay De-Slick In A Tube Mattifying Gel
With warmer weather comes an oilier canvas so I do need a primer this time of the year. I’ve tried quite a few from Smashbox Photo Finish, Benefit Porefessional, Lancome La Base Pro, Clinique Pore Minimizer, and a bunch of others including B B creams from the drugstore. The one that caught my heart is the Urban Decay De-Slick. This is some serious shine fighting potion. It can dry pretty thick on the skin so work fast and use a light hand of product.
ELF Cosmetics Tinted Moisturizer & Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation
Hats off to ELF Cosmetics for creating the perfect tinted moisturizer yet. Sorry you Laura Mercier lovers- the coverage doesn’t compare to ELF. I use two pea size drops all over the face and buff down the rest to on my neck. If I need more coverage that day I’ll add a pea sized amount of the Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation, mix them together and apply to my skin with my fingers. This has been the best combo for coverage and wear throughout the day.
MAC Blot Powder
To set my face makeup and keep it in place all day I use the MAC Blot Powder. This coverage is non-existent but the holding power is phenomenal. When you’re an oily skin girl $24 is steep to pay but worth it. I’d choose this over Rimmel Stay Matte Powder any day. I have that too, don’t love it. It’s a regrettable purchase. All $3 of it.
